Sian Ricketts enjoys a multi-faceted career as a singer and a period woodwinds specialist. This season, she performs medieval, Renaissance and baroque chamber music and orchestral repertoire with ensembles such as Apollo’s Fire (OH), Dallas Bach Society, Piffaro (PA), Forgotten Clefs, Bach Collegium Fort Wayne (IN) and Labyrinth Baroque (NY). Sian is a co-founding member of the early music ensemble Alkemie, specializing in music of the medieval period. This season, Alkemie is featured on several concert series, including the Cambridge Society for Early Music (MA), Five Boroughs Music Festival (NY), Amherst Glebe Arts Response (VA) and Fordham University (NY). In additional to her interest in early music, Sian also regularly performs 21st-century repertoire, and collaborated with Elliot Cole and Alkemie on a new setting of the 14th-century story of King Arthur this season. Sian is a Visiting Medieval Fellow at Fordham University for 2019-2020, and is also co-director of Fordham University’s Collegium ensemble. Sian holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in historical performance practice from Case Western Reserve University with concentrations in voice and baroque oboe.
