Marta Soderberg Howard, violist, performs in groups as diverse as the Folger Consort and Signature Theater, in venues ranging from the National Cathedral and the Kennedy Center to assisted living facilities around Northern Virginia. A regular contributor to projects with Wyoming Baroque, which premieres modern works for baroque instruments, and The North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, including their inaugural season with the Charlotte Bach Akademie, Dr. Howard also performs with The Washington Bach Consort and Assisi Performing Arts, a chamber music festival held each summer in that historic Italian hill town. A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Dr. Howard is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, the University of Wisconsin, the Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Iowa. She is often engaged as a competition judge, sectional coach and master class instructor. Dr. Howard has nearly 40 years’ experience with students at the Preucil School in Iowa City, the Cleveland Institute of Music/Case Western Reserve University, the Suburban Community Music Center in New Jersey, and at Georgetown University, where she also headed up the chamber music program for several years. She currently teaches budding violists in her private home studio in Vienna, VA.
